Basketball

The first basketball game played in Europe was in Paris in 1893, in a gym, but they preferred to play in open air because by that time in Europe there weren’t a lot of covered gyms.
In 1922 basketball was spread into Coimbra and Porto. The first interregional game was played between the Christian Association of Madeira, Porto and Lisbon. The team that won the game was Coimbra wining the title of the champion of Portugal.
In 1933 it was played the first Portuguese match. The winner was the sport club of Coimbrence. Since then basketball was developed and it was spread all over the Portuguese territory been played in a federal level by 2000 athletics. Starting with mini basketball to seniors.
Basketball is one of the most popular games in Portugal.

In our opinion Michael Jordan, that played in Chicago bulls, is one of our favourite players, for we think he has a great personality and charm when he is playing. From Portugal our favourite player is Carlos Lisboa the best national three points’ shouter.
