In Italy, on 8th March, we celebrate the festivity of the women. It is not a real holiday, children go to school and adults to work but, on this day, men give “mimose” to women as a sign of respect.

The origins of this feast go back to 1908, when the labourers of the industry of Cotton of New York went on struck in order to protest against the terrible conditions in which they were forced to work. On the 8th of march the owner Mr Johonson closed all doors of in order to prevent the labourers to leave the building. A fire burst out and the 129 captive labourers died.
In memory of this tragedy Rose Luxemburg proposed this date as one of international fight ino favour of women.
I like this feast because it is my feast and I feel very important. on this day all women celebrate. Usually women in Italy go to restaurant, if they are single with their friends, or, if they are engaged, with their partner.
