An outdoor school day.

This is an article about an activity we had during our health week. The day was snowy and cold, nearly ten degrees below freezing point. I can tell you: It was bloody cold. Some of the students had decided to jump in the frozen lake.

The day started as usual at eight o’clock, our first lesson was ice theory. We ate lunch at eleven o’clock. And then all students went by foot to “Alby”, a big public park, the teachers went by car, it was really irritating. When the students went by foot, the teachers went by comfortable cars. All students arrived at twenty past twelve. Some of the students went away for the jump in the frozen lake. And the others went for a walk in the very cold weather.

Here’s an interview with one of the persons who made the jump:

- How did you feel before the jump?
- I felt both nervous and excited.
- Okay, did you have any lifeguards?
- Yes, one of teachers. He was actually in the water all the time.
- All the time?
- Yes, he was wearing a wet suit, a suit that make you warm in the cold water.
- Okay, how did you feel in the water?
- First I was shocked, and I could barely move because the water was so cold.
- Could you just get up after the jump?
- No, we had to tell our complete name and our personal code numbers, before we could get up from the freezing water.
- Really?
- Yes that’s true.

Most of the students were happy the day after, but some of the students thought it were kind of boring walking four kilometers in the snow. The only bad thing about the day was that one of the students that jumped got sick, very sick.

One of our silly teachers made the jump only in swimming trunks.
