Boxing and Cinema

In general I don’t like doing any kind of sport at all but I think boxing is really interesting and useful in order to be fit. Boxing was born a lot of centuries ago in Greece and became very popular all over the world.

There are three important categories in this sport which considers the potentiality of weight. During the match there are two rivals, an arbiter and a jury who have to check time and decide who the winner is.
Boxers have to wear boxing gloves, shorts and boots in order to fight. In the past there were lots of important champions like Jake La Motta, Muhammed Ali and George Foreman, and also cinema has had his champions. The director John Avildsen and the actor Sylvester Stallone made a wonderful success in 1976 with “Rocky”. The film talks about a brave and lonely boxer, Rocky Balboa, who decided to fight against a strong champion, Apollo Creed, and live forever with his girlfriend Adriana. Other important films which talk about champions, blood and fights are “Raging Bull”, directed by Martin Scorsese, and “Hurricane” with Denzel Washington.
Unfortunately, people prefer to see wrestling matches on TV nowadays so they understimate the world of boxing.
I like boxing very much and I’d like to see more boxing matches on TV because I think it isn’t a violent or a bad sport, but I’m fond of it because of it’s beautiful.
