Christmas food in Spain

Susana Bravo 2008-05-01

At this date of the year, around December, that is close to Christmas time, there is a lot of typical food in Spain. On Christmas Eve we usually have roast turkey and shellfish soup: crab and eel are very popular too.

Though last in order, sweets are very important too, such as nougat, marzipan... and to drink the most popular choice is cava (champagne produced in Spain)!!!
On the morning of 6 January it is typical to have a large round sponge cake for breakfast after opening the presents that the Three Wise Men have just brought you. The large cake contains a surprise small presents inside and the person who manages to find it has good luck for the rest of the year.
