Mobile phones and teenagers

Today teenagers use mobile phones a lot. Is this a bad or a good thing?

Today the mobile phone is a necessary object for young people. Each teenager has a mobile phone and takes it everywhere, also to school. Contrarily to what people think, nowadays mobile phones are cheaper than some years ago and every teenager wants to have one. If you are twelve years old and you haven’t got a mobile phone you aren’t cool, you aren’t ok, you are left out of all the conversations. As a result mobile phones have become a good present at Confirmation or as a reward for primary school’s exams.
On the one hand this is positive: not only is it useful to get through with friends, but also mums always know where their children are. For example, if a teenager is out with their friends and they decide to go to the disco, the teen can call his/her family with a mobile phone. Besides it is useful for safety : if you are lost, or if your motorbike has a problem you can call whoever you want. What is more, as teenagers call a lot, the phone at home is not occupied all the time if they call with their own mobile phone.
On the other hand they are very dangerous. Although they help teenagers to communicate, they destroy the imagination and the spontaneity of children. Nowadays guys aren’t able to say to a person “I love you”, they write T.V.B.(in Italian “Ti Voglio Bene”) at the end of a text. Consequently teenagers who use mobile phones a lot can’t express their emotions in person and this is a very bad thing.
As far as I’m concerned, I have a mobile phone, but I don’t use it too much. In my opinion mobile phones for teenagers are very useful, but should be used less.
