My favourite place

I think there are a lot of interesting places in the world which are also important for their monuments, shops and streets.

My favourite place is Piazza della Signoria in Florence, with Palazzo Vecchio, Loggia de’Lanzi and the Uffizzi, which is a famous museum where you can see and admire lots of pictures. Palazzo Vecchio is the municipality of the city and it was built in the thirteen century. It’s a beautiful gothic and old building with a lot of rooms and the famous Salone dei 500, with Vasari’s wonderful frescos. Loggia de’Lanzi was built in the fifteen century. Here, you can find a lot of important masterpieces which were made by an important sculptor called Gianbologna. His statues are carved in the marble and they represent Greek and Roman myths. Another important artist is Benvenuto Cellini , who made his masterpiece of bronze “Perseo”. The person of the work is a Greek hero who beheaded a monster, called “Medusa”. I think it’s quite terrific but also really beautiful. Today the Uffizzi is very admired by tourist from all over the world. In the fifteen century, when it was built, it was the Head quarter of some offices which managed the Republic of Florence. Piazza della Signoria is a big place where you can also find a lot of shops and bars. There’s a big fountain in the corner of Palazzo Vecchio, which I like very much for its form. I like this place because I think it’s fantastic for its artistic works. Sometimes, especially on Sundays I go there with my parents to spend a lovely day and admire the city.
