The break

On Wednesday the 18th of March,we went on a school trip to Ravenna. It is an extremely nice city in the centre-north of Italy on the adriatic coast. It is very famous in our country because of its byzantine and barbaric monuments.

We left Colle at 7:00 o’clock in the morning and we reached Ravenna at 10:30 (in the morning, of course).
We visited a quite strange church, Sant’Apollinare in Classe, in order to look at Byzantyne mosaics. Then we saw the Teodorico’s Mausoleum, although we didn’t enter into it. After this short visit our teacher showed us round Sant’Apollinare Nuovo. Then we had a break and we visited the centre of the city (disobeying our teacher). After the break, we visited the most interesting church, San Vitale, which has some very interesting dosserets and baroque frescos. Next to this church there is the small nice Galla Placidia’s Mausoleum. She was Emperor Onorio’s sister and a very important notable.
At 6:30 in the evening, we went back home .
We had fun and learnt many interesting things, although we must admit that some of us were more interested in having fun in the bus than in looking at the monuments...
