The EU-project From National Wealth To World Heritage. News from the Turkish project teamHi there,
Here we are the Turkish Project team. As you can see in the photo above, we´re in front of the Hagia Sophia, which has been a museum since 1936. It used to be a cathedral between the years 537 and 1453, then it became a mosque with the conquest of İstanbul. We went for a daily trip there to learn more about our project topic and the first UNESCO site we will tell you about. The area is full of history including the Topkapı Palace and Sultan Ahmet mosque, which you might know as the Blue Mosque because of the colour of the tiles inside. The weather was brillliant in February. Can you imagine? Just a week before the trip, there was a snowstorm and they had to close the schools. We, as the project team, had a wonderful day and took a lot of photos for you, Looking forward to showing them to you. As the project team, our ages range from 16 to 17. All of us enjoy fun, travelling and meeting new friends. Here are our names from left to right. Unfortunately, all of us can not take part in the meeting in Madrid, but the rest of us hope to meet you in Sweden next year. Our names are;

The palace overlooks the magnificant Marmara Sea and two bridges, which connects Asian and European sides of Istanbul.
