Christmas in Clamart!

Maison Blanche secondary school 2023-12-08

JOYEUX NOEL!!

Christmas is very important for us. Our school works with a very famous French association to prepare boxes in which we put something warm, something to eat, something to read and a hygiene product. These boxes are meant for homeless people who are not lucky enough to celebrate Christmas in a warm house with family and friends. We think that it is an important action to do as young citizens.

We also have an advent calendar in class with questions on Christmas and we share presents on the last day of school before Christmas holidays. It’s a way to care and show attention to our classmates and teacher. In our city there are also many Christmas decorations, events and activities. The park in front of our school is full of light sculptures called « Monumentales » which means huge in French. There’s also a Christmas market where we can find ideas for our Christmas gifts.

We also have fun with family and friends on a roller and ice skating ring. On the 24th of December we gather around a very long dinner with special treats for that occasion : some oysters, some foiegras (goose or duck liver pate) on toasts, as a dessert the famous ‘buche de Noel’ literally the ‘Christmas log’: a sweet cake made of butter cream and chocolate. Kids watch cartoons and adults enjoy talking and drinking some Champagne until midnight when we can open the gifts surrounding a richly decorated Christmas tree. We are really happy and thankful to be able to celebrate Christmas.

Our dear European friends, We wish you a merry and peaceful Christmas !
