Siminia M. Carina B. Antonia M. and David O. 2023-12-01

Christmas Traditions in Romania. We start by writing about food.

Our Christmas food traditions are: stuffed cabbage rolls, polenta, sweet bread and aspic.
Our favorite ones are cabbage rolls with meat .
We love this tradition that Romania has because we love to eat tasty food.
We sometimes eat cabbage rolls with sour cream. I love my traditional food because they are the best in the world.

Star singer

Star singers in singing processions are children and young people walking from house to house with a star on a rod and often wearing crowns and dressed in clothes to resemble them.
The singing processions have their roots in an old medieval ecclesiastical play, centred around the Biblical Magi of the Christmas story in the Gospel of Matthew. It is observed usually during the period between 27 December and 6 January.

Carol

A carol is a traditional Christmas song in Romania. In traditional Romanian rural society, preparations for going carolling started well before Christmas. The village youth would begin to form groups in different places and choose a leader in order to practise singing in unison.
These groups are called groups of carolers. Then, starting on Christmas Eve, the groups would go to different houses and begin singing. In some villages, they go first to the mayor's house, followed by the teacher's house, whereas in other parts there is no pre-established order.

Christmas tree

The Christmas Tree In Romania, the Christmas tree is a symbol of joy. Before Christmas Eve, families decorate it with lights , handmade ornaments and traditional crafts. It stands as a centerpiece in the festive homes. On Christmas morning, the children are excited to find their very beautiful presents under the tree.
